“Hollybrook is an amazing school, we love the hard work” Year 5 pupil

Inclusion

Hollybrook Junior School sits on the same site as the Infant School and the Headteacher is Headteacher of both schools.  In May 2013 the Junior School became an academy within a multi-academy; Hamwic Education Trust.  We are also part of the Jefferys Education Partnership with local schools.  We work very closely with them in terms of curriculum opportunities for the children, teaching and learning and staff development. We have our own local governing body and make our own decisions at school level e.g. uniform, how the curriculum is delivered.  Please follow the link to the Hamwic website on the home page for more information about Hamwic and how a multi academy works.

We strive to give every child the best care and education and are committed to meeting the learning and social needs of all children including those with disabilities, special needs or specific medical conditions. In the event of a specific medical need or a disability, the SENCO will write an Individual Care Plan in partnership with the parents / carers and any health specialists.  This is shared with relevant staff.  Training for staff will also take place if necessary.  Where possible, the curriculum will be adapted to ensure full inclusion.

Where children come into school with English as an additional language, we will support them through a specific programme and support from our Speech and Language specialist and school ELSA.

We hope that our website gives you an insight into our school.  Please do not hesitate to contact the office if you require any further information.

ELSAs

Our two Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs) Mrs Cornford and Mrs Jenkins provide additional specialised support to a small group of children across the school working closely with the pupils, class teachers and parents.

The ELSA room is located on the upper floor of the school.

Mrs Cornford and Mrs Jenkins work with both individuals and groups in the mornings.
